BoxNation Boxer of the Month Spotlight: African Light Heavyweight Champion Prince Kamaldeen

The "Northern Assassin" Has Arrived

There are knockouts, and then there are statements. At the Homowo FightFest at Abelemkpe Park, Prince Kamaldeen Mohammed delivered a statement.

The PKO Boxing Management star stopped Togo's Kokou Vinyo De Souza at 2:43 of the third round to win the World Boxing League (WBL) Africa Light-Heavyweight title.

It is why he is our BoxNation Boxer of the Month.

Kamaldeen, fighting as the "Northern Assassin," was dominant from the opening bell. He dropped De Souza in the first, dropped him again in the second, then finished the job in the third. It was not luck. It was a systematic breakdown.

The win is the biggest of his career and his second straight since suffering his first pro defeat to Nathaniel Suppey in April. He rebounded in May with a third-round stoppage of David Okat, but this was for a continental crown.

Born Kamal Jamory, the 184cm orthodox fighter from northern Ghana showed heart as well as power. An emotional Kamaldeen dedicated his first professional title to two childhood friends from the north who recently passed away.

That connection defines him. He fights for home, and now he brings a belt home.

The victory headlined a huge night for PKO Boxing, with wins also for Ebenezer Kolebe, Joseph Commodore, Humza Mohammed and Daniel Gorsh. But Kamaldeen was the star — the proof of the stable's vision to build world champions from Ghana.

At 175lbs, a division hungry for African star power, timing is on his side. Young, powerful, and proven able to bounce back from defeat, he has the tools to go further.

For now, we celebrate the coronation.
