The Battle That Left Fans Divided By BoxNation Staff

Days after the final bell, Ghana is still arguing about it. In trotros, in chop bars, on radio phone-ins, one question refuses to die: did the right man win?

On a feverish Saturday night at the Tse Annan Memorial Centre in La, Accra, Charles Narh Tetteh aka ‘The Hitman’ was declared winner by split points decision over Wasiru ‘Gyata Bi’ Mohammed at the action-packed Bishop Box Cup presented by Bishop Boxing Promotions.

It was the Best of Bukom 3 Fight Night, held on Saturday, August 29, , 2026, and for ten rounds, the two men gave the nation a war.

Tetteh, a former National Featherweight Champion, secured a major victory over former WBO Global champion Wasiru Mohammed, popularly known as Gyatabi. After 10 grueling rounds, the judges awarded the bout to the undefeated Tetteh, who showcased his accuracy and resilience throughout the contest.

But it was anything but clear-cut.

The three judges at ringside scored it 95-96, 93-97 and 98-93 in his favour — a split so wide it instantly split the arena in two. One half erupted. The other half booed.

From the opening bell, it was fierce. Tetteh, the undefeated Hitman, boxed with surgical accuracy, snapping Gyata Bi’s head back with counters and refusing to take a backward step. Mohammed, the veteran lion, marched forward with that feared Gyata Bi pressure, digging to the body and landing the heavier, eye-catching shots that sent his supporters into delirium.

It was one of the best fights in recent years. It was a fierce battle from Round 1 to Round 10 and most boxing fans thought it should have been a championship bout.

By the championship rounds, both men were marked, exhausted, and unwilling to yield. When the MC raised Tetteh’s hand, the Centre exploded — half in ecstasy, half in disbelief.

Tetteh maintained his perfect 15-0 record with the win, announcing himself, as many are now saying, as the new sensational power kid on the block with his eyes fixed to win world title for the motherland.

For Mohammed’s loyalists, however, the debate rages on. Was it accuracy over aggression? Ring craft over raw power? The nation is still talking, and in Ghana boxing, that is the surest sign of a classic.

One thing both camps agree on: Charles Tetteh and Wasiru Mohammed proved that Ghana has the boxers to win world titles.
